Early Morning at Elsie Roemer

It’s really an amazing time of year right now to see shorebirds! I stopped by Elsie Roemer before work because I arrived in the area early… got to take in about 10 minutes of sea air and birds before my crazy day began!

Even in the few minutes that I was there, it was so beautiful to watch the sky go from gray to golden… I saw my first short-billed dowitcher and was happy to see a greater yellowlegs! There were also a few black-necked stilts that flew away right as I arrived. I’ve never seen so many avocets here before!
