Heron’s Head Park

I read online that over 100 species of birds have been seen at Heron’s Head Park in SF, so I stopped by for a bit before I went to an event… it was very cool! Reminded me of Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in Oakland, which is also nestled among port cranes. There’s a nice marshland in addition to a heron-shaped peninsula that jets out into the bay. It was already nearly sunset when I arrived and I was only there for about 20 minutes, but I managed to see quite a lot of birds, including my first western meadowlark and American tree sparrow! I had to use Merlin to ID them, it’s pretty remarkable how accurate the search results are by submitting a photo!
